Event and analytics integration for hybrid mobile apps (Capacitor / React Native) with Amplitude and user-level tracking
By Kevin Marcondes · Published on · 6 min read
A service to integrate events and analytics for hybrid mobile apps (Capacitor / React Native) with Amplitude and per-user tracking. We define what to measure, instrument events and properties, validate data and prepare dashboards. You gain funnel, retention and behavior visibility with governance and privacy built in from day one.
Advanced Amplitude integration for hybrid mobile apps
Integration goes beyond “install the SDK.” We define critical events, properties, identity rules and naming conventions to ensure reliable, comparable data.
We cover common hybrid app scenarios: WebView navigation, deep links, identity reassignment after login and offline events with safe resending.
We work with Capacitor and React Native, handling iOS and Android specifics like permissions, SDK initialization and background behavior.
- Tracking plan and event taxonomy
- App instrumentation (Capacitor / React Native)
- Identity and groups setup
- Event and property QA
- Dashboards and metric definitions
Who this service is for
Product, Growth, Engineering and Data teams that need to accelerate analytics adoption without sacrificing quality.
Especially useful when there are tracking gaps between web and native screens, or when key metrics differ across platforms.
If you use feature flags, run A/B experiments or need to correlate app data with backend systems, consistent integration helps you decide with confidence.
- New app launch or major refactor
- Switching analytics tool to Amplitude
- Need for cross-device user-level tracking
- Investigations into funnel conversion drops
- Standardizing events between Android and iOS
Project workflow: clear steps
A typical cycle follows short, focused phases to reduce rework and speed time-to-value.
Each phase produces reviewable, versioned artifacts to ease future maintenance and onboarding.
- Discovery: objectives, KPIs and critical app flows
- Tracking plan: events, properties and conventions
- Identity architecture: user_id, device_id and groups
- Instrumentation (Capacitor / React Native) and PR reviews
- QA: validation in sandbox and internal builds
- Controlled rollout and post-launch monitoring
User-level tracking: identity, login and privacy
We define when to use device_id and when to promote to user_id, preserving anonymous and logged journeys without splitting sessions.
We cover login, logout and identity merges to avoid breaking funnels when users switch between web and app.
We implement user_properties, group_properties and revenue tracking where appropriate. Consent and opt-out are handled according to your company policy and LGPD requirements.
Example events and properties in hybrid apps
Below is an illustrative example of a consistent event for a checkout funnel. The structure helps QA and analysis like conversion by campaign, device and app version.
We use stable conventions (snake_case), coherent types and required properties for critical events. The mapping is agreed in the tracking plan.
{
"event_type": "checkout_started",
"user_id": "123456",
"device_id": "A1B2C3D4",
"event_properties": {
"cart_value": 199.90,
"items_count": 3,
"payment_method": "pix",

"user_properties": {

Data quality and governance
We validate event contracts, property types and required fields before releasing to production. This reduces broken metrics and rework.
We set up test environments, namespacing and event versioning so you can evolve without losing history. We apply rate limits, retries and offline queues according to platform constraints.
To correlate analytics with backend services, combine analytics with structured logs. See the guide on Structured JSON logs & request correlation and, if relevant, Distributed tracing (OpenTelemetry).
Service packages and suggested scope
The packages below are starting points. Final scope depends on your app goals, tech stack and team timelines.
All packages include tracking plan documentation and rollout guidance. No prices are listed here; we discuss scope and pricing after an initial conversation.
| Package | Scope | Deliverables | Recommended for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | Critical funnel events and basic identity | Tracking plan, core instrumentation, sandbox QA, rollout guide | Teams starting with Amplitude |
| Growth | Funnels + retention, cohorts and advanced properties | Expanded taxonomy, user/group properties, revenue tracking, initial dashboards | Product and Growth teams with aggressive goals |
| End-to-end with backend | App integration + server-side correlation | Cross-platform tracking plan, instrumentation, correlation patterns, server-side ingestion guidance | Apps that need unified app, API and job telemetry |
| Continuous support | Ongoing governance and evolution | Event reviews, versioning, recurring QA, squad support | Teams with continuous experiment roadmaps |
How to get started: information that speeds the kickoff
With a few inputs the work moves faster. If you already have metrics and reports, we use them as references to keep comparability.
If Android internal builds are needed for event QA, see our Android CI tutorial: Android CI (GitHub Actions). For controlled feature rollouts, see the feature flags guide.

Frequently asked questions
What’s the difference between user_id and device_id in Amplitude?
device_id identifies the app installation; user_id identifies the authenticated person. For anonymous journeys that later authenticate, we plan promotion to user_id and proper merging so sessions and funnels aren’t split.
How do you handle login and logout without duplicating events?
We define identify flows, setUserId usage and clearing of sensitive properties on logout. The tracking plan specifies when to promote identities, when to reset context and which events must include mandatory user_properties.
The app works offline. Will events be lost?
The SDK typically queues events and retries when network is available, respecting configurable limits. We design retries and batch sizes suited to your app and test unstable connectivity scenarios in QA.
How do you ensure LGPD compliance?
We handle consent according to your policies and legal requirements. We avoid collecting unnecessary personal data, implement opt-outs where appropriate and document sensitive properties for security reviews.
Do you also help with dashboards in Amplitude?
We include metric definitions and initial dashboards when it fits the scope. The focus is delivering reliable, actionable data, avoiding ambiguous metrics and ensuring consistent tracking across iOS and Android.
How long does the integration take?
It depends on scope, app maturity and number of events. Integrations with a clear tracking plan and few critical flows are faster; complex apps with many experiments require more iterations.
